A Very Positive and Busy 2025 Lifting up the Name of Jesus
It was a busy year for us in Crawley Down. Apart from the general litter picking that we do around the village, have
supported a number of events:
On Good Friday some of us supported the walk of faith and the service in East Grinstead, although this is beyond our local
focus. The walk of faith involves the carrying of a wooden cross from one part of the town, followed by a group of people,
to the top of the town where an open air service is held, under the banner of East Grinstead Churches Together.
On the May VE day there was an event at the Haven Centre which included funfair, military vehicles and 40's band/singers
plus various stalls. We litter-picked and help clear up throughout the event with a rota of pickers, chatting and making
contact with people, handing out leaflets about local church events.
At the end of July we supported the annual Gig on the Green, a music event on the village green in Crawley Down, after which
we litter-picked to support the residents’ association on clear-up day.
In August we purchased our own gazebo, plus promotional sails for our events. Then in September, having a plot at the
Village Fayre on the green, we held a "find the key" safecracker event, the focus being meeting people and getting known.
Great fun was had by all.
In November we were at the East Grinstead "Big Reveal" (a Christmas lights-on event) with our gazebo, supporting East
Grinstead Churches Together, where we served the public with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
We were again in Crawley Down at the end of November, at another Lights-on event at the village shops, serving toasted
marshmallows, the profits being donated to local organisations.
In all these events we wear our tabards with the purpose of getting known in the village and ultimately, to make Jesus known.
